Fevers...

The doctors missed their opportunity to view the newest bangs on the block,
because the fever has passed...

Bangs for my Baby

With clips of all shapes and sizes but hair no better than extra fine, the fourth, with more time in her hands for ripping things out than I could ever find to put them back, has won for herself a new set of bangs.

I hated to do it, but now that they're here, I think she is quite cute!

Despite the picture, she was extremely excited about her new look, presenting a scrunchy nosed face with a broad open mouthed grin to any one who would look her way. But her excitement was quickly replaced by a 102 degree fever and many long hours in the bathroom with mommy. This picture was take after her first 24 hours and as we approach 72 I suspect she will soon be able to show off her new cut to a Doctor's office full of new fans.

A Blessed Mother's Day

The other day Daniel looked at me with a rather serious expression for a three year old. He asked, "Mommy, we are poor, aren't we," and after the third time, I realized this was truly concerning him. Perhaps having to choose only one of the coveted cartons of ice cream because "we didn't want to spend too much money on treats," had left a more lasting impression than mint chocolate chip ever had before. What ever had caused his anxieties, I thought Mother's Day a good opportunity to recount all the blessings that through the years have kept poverty at bay, and filling our sacrifices with sweet joy.

To watch 1 wonderful big brother delight in each new sibling,

To know 2 sisters, who will share, along with their bed, a bond for life,

To enjoy a 3 year old who could make anyone laugh,

To be kissed each day, by 4 little angels,

To have the care of 5 Immortal Souls entrusted to us,
and, to only have to wait 6 months to share this new life with the world,
(SURPRISE!)

To enjoy a Saturday morning bed soon to be filled with 7 cuddly bodies,

And to welcome a baby with 8 little arms eager to embrace it,
This is true wealth.

So yesterday, when Daniel looked at me and with amazement said, "wow Mommy, we really are rich!"

I had to agree; we are far richer than I ever thought possible when 9 years ago the man I love asked me to share his life with him.

We hope all the mothers reading this have come to know all the blessings we have known each time our Lord has given us another set of 10 little toes.

Happy Mother's Day!

Zoo

I recently had a Friday off of work and decided to take the older three kids to the Dallas Zoo. Luci and Little Momma got to stay home and take much needed naps. We had a great time with each other and enjoyed a beautiful day at the Zoo!

The favorite thing of the day, especially for Peter and myself, would be the following video.

We just happened to be in the reptile building during feeding time and saw three rattlesnakes and a Gaboon Viper enjoy a rat meal!
