Mass

The children have begun celebrating mass in the living room. It is a very ecumenical affair, as all the jungle animals agreed to invite the horses, sheep and cows, as well as the cars including the tractors and dump trucks.

Mass usually begins with the Angelus, at least the first two lines. The celebration then continues with the blessing before meals, followed by an extremely hasty distribution of communion, which is necessary because big brother has been still for his 10 minute limit and is aching to bring about a devastating natural disaster.

Tornadoes seems to be as fascinating as pump jacks.

Mommy is gone....what now?

So for the first time since we have had Daniel (16 months), Jenny Lynn decided to leave me with the 3 kids all by myself for 3 nights. So what did I do, I packed up the kids and headed out west to my parents in Colorado City. I don't have to worry about cooking, cleaning, or changing all of the diapers, and the kids are having a blast.

Good thing we left Dallas too, because it looked like on the Weather Channel that we got over 3 inches of rain, and our backyard has a tendency to flood when it rains that heavy. Other than a rainy Tuesday, the weather has been beautiful and the kids have spent nearly all day outside playing. Peter, Isabelle, and Daniel have been a joy to watch as they all run around and play together.

Peter decided to pull Daniel and Isabelle all around the go-kart track in the wagon. I was glad he did.I had been pulling the three of them for almost 10 minutes, and my legs were getting tired!

He spent a good 10 minutes slowly going over every page! Maybe a future oilman in our family. He can take over Ellis Production someday!

Hobbies

hobby n. An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation, primarily for pleasure.



I realized the other day (attempting to fill out a profile on here) that I no longer have any hobbies that are outside my regular occupation. How could this be! My days are full from waking to night and yet none of that constitutes a hobby, an interest, a pursuit! What has become of ME! Who am I outside the dishes, laundry and chores!


But perhaps what makes a hobby is not primarily the activity, but rather, it's being primarily for pleasure.


My hobbies are: Cloth Diapering, Homeschooling, Making Montessori Works, Cooking from Scratch, Calculating Every Penny (literally!), Reading five Books a day (short ones, mostly about talking animals and fairy tales) and now, Blogging!

Fun with Ducks

Last week Jenny Lynn and I took the kids to the park near our house with some left over hot dog buns from one of St. Rita's Life Nights.

The kids had a blast, but some of the ducks were a little anxious to get to the food!
